Memorial service set for Jesse Wayne Wright

A memorial service for Jesse Wayne Wright, 78, will be held at 6 p.m., August 12, at the Neon United Methodist Church.

A son of the late James and Leona Craft Wright, he was born in Roxana. He died August 7 at his residence in Payne Gap.

Mr. Wright enjoyed playing golf and watching Westerns and wrestling. He coached baseball for the Fleming-Neon Pirates in 1991, and was an honorary Kentucky Colonel. He was the first president of the Neon Area Jaycees, was a founding board member of the Fleming-Neon Little League in 1982, was a board member of Skyview Park, and was Rookie of the Year and Agency Manager of the Year at Kentucky Farm Bureau in Whitesburg.

Surviving are his wife, Janice Esther King Wright; four sons, Chad Wright and wife Vickie, Mark Wright and wife Ellena, and Mike Wright and wife Beth, all of Jenkins, and Chris Wright and wife Stacy of Whitesburg; a daughter, Karen Holbrook and husband Billy of Warsaw; two brothers, Tom Wright and John Wright, both of Jenkins; three sisters, Polly Bittrich of Nicholasville, Glenna Matney of Brandenburg, and Sheila Wright of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; 19 grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three sisters, Jimmie Kay Adkins, Margaret Adams and Jane Bright.
