Memorial service set for Lady Bates



Lady Meade Bates died February 20, at her home in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Born in Fleming-Neon to the late Ervin and Dorthula Meade, she was the widow of Elmer Bates and a sister of the late Herbert Meade.

Surviving are two sons, Stephen Beckham Bates of San Bruno, Calif., and Kevin Ray Bates of St. James, Mo.; a daughter, Pamela May of Harrison, Oh.; five grandchildren, Maura Black, Colleen McCord, Brenna May, LaRhonda Rathert and Stephen Bates; two great granddaughters, Jocelyn Bates, and Korie Rathert; and two great-grandsons, Cyrus Bates and Hudson Black.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m., March 26, at the Deane Baptist Church followed by burial in the Bates Cemetery at Colson.

A celebration of her life will be held immediately after the graveside service at Pine Mountain Grill in Whitesburg. All are invited.
