Mock accident drill set




Letcher County Public Schools, in conjunction with local emergency responding and receiving agencies, will conduct a mock school bus accident at 8:30 a.m. on Feb. 21. near Sandlick Fire Department on State Highway 931.

The purpose of the training is to prepare students, school faculty, school staff, district administrators and county emergency personnel for a bus accident. This is a practice drill to rehearse plans and ensure that safety measures are adequately installed.

Members of fire departments, emergency medical services personnel, law enforcement, medical personnel and other emergency personnel will be responding to the area around the Sandlick Fire Department in emergency mode.

Responders will operate in emergency mode for at least two and a half hours.
