Molene Bates Halcomb, 72, died September 23 at her home in Winchester.
Born in Thornton to the late Andrew and Zettie Johnson Bates, she was a sister of the late Owen Bates, Cack Bates, Herman Bates, Grady Bates, and Edna Bates. She was also preceded in death by two sisters-in-law, Louse Bates and Verna Bates; a brother-in-law, Joe Pena; and a son-in-law, Albert Nunley.
She was a 1960 graduate of Kingdom Come High School.
Surviving are her husband of 54 years, Allen Halcomb; two sons, Tim Halcomb and wife Donna, and Ted Halcomb and wife Krista, all of Winchester; two daughters, Teresa Campbell and husband Mark of Centerville, and Thursa Short and husband Kainan of Ridgeville; 11 grandchildren, Ashley Vance and husband Jason, Kolt Halcomb, Nicole Fairchild and husband Michael, Eric Campbell, Keith Nunley and wife Kate, Serina Vipperman and husband Mike, Annie Nunley and husband Brent, Toby and Theron Short, Addy Halcomb and Blaine Hawkey; seven great-grandchildren, Blake White, Vanessa Vance, Jason Vance, AJ Nunley, Koby Nunley, Ally Vipperman and Reagan Vipperman; two brothers, Greely Bates and Kermit Bates and wife Oma, all of Winchester; two sisters, Margie Gibson and husband Willis, and Norma Jean Pena, all of Winchester; and two sisters in-law, Loretta Bates of Oxford, Ga., and Janice Sue Bates of Winchester.
Funeral services were held September 26 in Winchester. Burial was in Weimer Cemetery.
