1946 Whitesburg holds annual

Junior-Senior Banquet

The annual Jr.-Sr. Banquet was a colorful array of pretty girls in lovely evening gowns and handsome boys in their best suits, a very attractively decorated banquet hall carrying out the Hawaiian theme with palms, orange and green crepe paper, hanging balloons, confetti, sprigs of rhododendron centered with flowers, and on the tables, dreamy canoes filled with nuts as a centerpiece on each table a larger canoe filled with tropical fruits. The favors were paper caps, programs, place cards, lei, and memory books, all of which were Hawaiian in theme. An orchestra composed of Mrs. Albert Jones, Leroy Fields and Lovell Williams furnished Hawaiian music throughout the evening. Hawaiian vocal numbers were given by Virginia Hill, Cleta Bentley, Margie and Betty Slemp, Carol Combs, Jean Polly, Betty Jo Little, Kathryn Back and Dorothy Jenkins. Welcome was given by Paula Finchum, President of the junior class, and the response by Ruby June Adams, senior class prophecy by Jean Polly and class will by Ann Hayes. Prof. C.J. Reed gave a tribute to the senior class. The Benediction was given by Rev. Robinson. The banquet was served by the Auxiliary of the Presbyterian Church
