Basketball news

Stanley Branson, who became eligible on Jan. 14, has been like a shot in the arm to the Whitesburg Yellowjackets. Six feet 3 inches, he is a powerful rebounder in enemy territory. After he gets that ball nobody better try to take it away, for he can really use those elbows. Since Branson joined the squad we have had a continuous winning streak.

Coach Ernie Trosper’s starting six is creating a lot of interest. Just before the starting whistle, Branson, Marty Blair, Chester Adams, Sonny Webb, Ercell Sturgill, and Darrell Stidham are eagerly waiting to start that game. Just which one will go the bench, doesn’t really matter, for he will be in the game before the half is over. Six good men are one more better than five good ones.

HARRY HICKEY COMBS

HARRY HICKEY COMBS

College coaches and spotters are making inquiries concerning the future plans of our pivot man, Marty Blair. Six feet five inches, consistent, calm, steady, ubiquitous, sly and sure, he’s a man you can depend on. Better come out to these games and watch him slip those points in right under his goal.

Who let the kat out of the bag?

Woody Breeding has been seen a lot lately with Sue Combs, an eighthgrader at parties, movies, and such.

Charlene Wright, don’t give up too easily! Charles B. Hall is still unattached as of now.

Buggs Daniels, don’t let interference bother you. Dan Polly is too cute and sweet to be running loose!

The Kat wonders if you know who Miss York is courting. We do and we aren’t going to tell either!

Big Bob Blair seems heartbroken since Betty Perry went back to Elkhorn City.

Ronald Lucas, can’t you make up your mind between

JANICE FLEENOR

JANICE FLEENOR

Sharon Reynolds and Yvonne H. Boggs?

Mary Thompson has a ring with the initials B.B. on it. We wonder could it be Bert Bradshaw?

Owen Pace, The Kat wonders why you are riding the Mayking bus. Could Sheila Hall be the reason?

Seems Linda Phillips likes Buck Jones, How about it, Linda?

Tommy Hoskins, make up your mind between Phyllis Wampler and Mary Bradshaw.

It must have been a double date with Kelly Boggs and Phyllis Tolliver, and Darrell Stidham and Frieda Moore, a dreamy Saturday night!

Kisses and Kicks

Kisses to the Annual Staff; Kicks to overcrowded classes. Kisses to all the new teachers; Kicks to having no drink machines. Kisses to the office girls; Kicks because the Seniors aren’t selling candy. Kisses to the library workers; Kicks to the people who don’t belong to a club. Kisses to the workmen who painted and worked on the school; Kicks to the weather because it doesn’t rain. Kisses to the faculty “if” they will let us have dances after the ball games; Kicks if they don’t.
