Good news from Freda Combs of Carcassonne: Virgil recently was able to go out and sit on his porch and enjoy the weather. He has been so sick lately that this is very good news. They had a family reunion on Saturday, July 21.

Happy birthday to Lauren Adams of Hazard, who turned 7 on July 14. She is a daughter of Leslie Gibson Hammond and Dustin Adams of Blair Branch.

Greg, Della Caudill and their daughter Kelly of Carcassonne, recently spent some time in Cherokee, N.C. They had a good time.

Happy anniversary to David and Opal Jent of Carcassonne. It was their 29th on July 17.

Her husband had to go back early and Mandy and the kids were heading back on Friday.

We had family in over the weekend, my late uncle Murphy Blair’s son Robert Blair and his sister Christine Lannin and daughter Kelly came in on Thursday from Indiana and went back on Monday.

My sympathy to the family of Bob ‘Bones’ Dixon of Ohio. He died Thursday, July 19. He had had a massive stroke several years ago and never fully recovered. He was a son of the late Herman Dixon and a stepson of the late Stella Dixon of Blackey.

Clyde Shepherd called my parents the other day and asked for everyone to pray for him. He broke his foot in two places and is having a hard time with it. He and his wife Beulah live in Indianapolis. Clyde is the nephew of Martha Burns of Blackey.

Danny Ray Caudill of Red Star had a stroke last week and had to be taken to Pikeville. The last I heard he was not doing well. I wish him the best

My sympathy to the family of Tom Bates, who died Sunday, July 22. He was the brother of the late Bill Bates of Blackey. I think he lived in Ohio
