Several things are happening in May in and around the Blackey area. On Saturday, May 13, at the Blackey Community Center from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Brad Colly will be having a Mother’s Day flowers, vegetables, fruit and plant sale.
He has had this for several years and he has the best produce and the most beautiful flowers, so if you want to buy flowers for your mother, grandmother, your honey, or yourself, come check this out.
The Blackey Community Center will be selling hot dogs and a drink for $3. The proceeds from this go to the community center.
If anyone has fresh vegetables out of their garden, homemade soap, honey, baked goods, homemade candies, jams, jellies, pick- les, any kind of arts and crafts, homemade butter, fresh eggs, etc., they can also sell them.
Inside and outside tables are available for $10 with the proceeds going to the center. Please plan on coming and sitting up a table and shopping.
We would like for this to continue all summer if we have enough interest. To schedule a table, call Berma at 606-633-7874.
Then, every Friday night at the Campbell’s Branch Community Center at Linefork, there is music, dancing and a complete dinner with drinks. Admission for the music and dancing are $5, and dinner at 6 p.m. is $6. All proceeds go to the center.
The best music in eastern Kentucky starts at 7 p.m. The music is always good, but the banjo playing is awesome, so come out and support our community centers. We need you.

On Saturday, May 20, starting at 3 p.m., the Cruise- In and Burn Out starts at the Campbell’s Branch Community Center and goes through October. There’s no admission cost.
If you bring a car to show you get a ticket at the gate, which is later available for a door prize. They have concessions and all proceeds from the concessions go to the Campbell’s Branch Center.
