Mountain Heritage Poetry, Essay and Poster Contest set

The theme for this year’s Mountain Heritage Poetry, Essay and Poster Contest is My Mountain Recreation, highlighting activities that can be done close to home or at area recreation sites.

The poetry contest is open to all ages, the essay contest is open to high school students and adults, and the poster contest is open to children up to fourth grade.

Essays should be between 250 and 500 words long. The posters should be on standard size poster board. All entries must incorporate this year’s theme.

Entries must taken to the Harry M. Caudill Memorial Library in Whitesburg by Sept. 18. Essays and poems may be submitted by email to bookmobile@lcld.org. Contestants’ names and contact information should be located on the back of submitted work.

Entries will be displayed at the library during the festival, and winners will receive a $25 Walmart gift card. For more information, call Legina Adams at 633-7547 or 634-7548.
