Sallie Hampton, 97, of Cadiz, formerly of Letcher County, died February 20 at her home in Trigg County.
She was the daughter of the late Jim and Maggie Sturgill Miniard, and the widow of Raymond Keaton. She later married Coy Hampton, who also preceded her in death. She was a grandmother of the late Timothy Reed, and a sister of the late Johnny Miniard, Joe Miniard, Buddy Miniard, Thelma Lee Brickson, Marie Amburgey and Drucilla Miniard.
Mrs. Hampton had worked at Fisher’s Meat Packaging Co. in Louisville, and during the World War II era had worked at Glenn L. Martin Defense plant in Baltimore, Md., involved in the construction of aircrafts.
She was a member of Delmont Baptist Church.
Surviving are a daughter, Patsy Pence of Cadiz; a son Jimmy Keaton and wife Mildred of Indianapolis, Ind.; two brothers, Frank Miniard and Billy Miniard, both of Louisville; two sisters, Ann Strasher and Shirley Fritz, both of Louisville; five grandchildren, seven greatgrandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held February 23 in Cadiz. Burial was at Boren Cemetery in Trigg County.
