Sonnia Hunsucker, 82, a former Letcher County school teacher and librarian, died unexpectedly June 23 at her home at Sergent.
Mrs. Hunsucker, the widow of Charles Hunsucker, touched hundreds of lives young and old during her career as a teacher and librarian at the elementary schools in which she taught, mostly at Martha Jane Potter Elementary at Kona.
A graduate of Pikeville College in the early 1960s, she received her Master of Arts Degree in Elementary Education from Eastern
Kentucky University in Richmond in August 1971. She was a daughter of the late Ben Branham and the late Susanna Holbrook Stewart.
Surviving are a brother, Alvin B. Webb of Jacksonville, Fla.; two sisters, Christine Altman and husband Charles of Jacksonville, Fla., and Betty Sue Bentley of Mayking; a number of nieces and nephews; and Kevin and Loretta Adams.
Funeral services were held June 26 at the Millstone Missionary Baptist Church. Burial was in the Thornton Cemetery.
