Myrtle Blair celebrates 90th birthday

Jeremiah

Just a few items this week since I’m a little bit lazy.

There will be a benefit singing at the Blackey Missionary Baptist Church on June 27. It will begin at 7:00 that evening and the group Free Indeed will be the singers. All proceeds will benefit a cancer patient and after the singing refreshments will be served.

The Hendricks and Anna Dixon Caudill reunion will be held on Saturday, June 27, at the Carcassonne Community Center. From 10 to 10:30 a.m. will be registration, 10:30 to 11 a.m. will be mix and mingle; 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. will be recognition of families and photo ops and story sharing; and 12 p.m. will be lunch and fellowship.

Please bring a covered dish for the potluck lunch and any family photos you wish to share. For more information, call Barney, 633- 5256; Katrina, 633-0366; or Anna Lora, 633-8379.

Reports are that Myrtle Blair of Doty Creek, had a wonderful birthday celebration last Saturday. It was her 90th birthday and close to 200 friends and family came out to make the day special for Myrtle.

This weekend will be the memorial meeting at the Blair Branch Church with the names of the deceased members being read on Sunday morning. Everyone is welcome to attend and dinner will be served afterward.

It was a nice Sunday morning for the memorial meeting at the Spring Branch Cemetery. Around 35 family and friends came out to remember their loved ones laid to rest there and to worship God.

The damage that had been done by vandals had been repaired by Buford Combs. He had rebuilt the toilet and made new benches to replace those that had burned.

It was also the memorial at the Melton Cemetery at the head of Carbon Glow.

We’re glad Sylvania Whitaker is feeling better and hope she continues to improve.

The Hiram and Mark Pridemore descendants got together with the Knott County Pridemores for a reunion last Saturday. It was a small crowd, but good food and fellowship was enjoyed by all of us.

Maybe I’ll have a little more next week.
