Neon students do well in state competition

Our condolences to the family of JoAnn Potter of Wise, Va. She was married to Clifford Potter, and was the sister-in-law of Jacky and Net Potter of Hemphill.

Happy birthday to Net Potter on June 19; Robert Mullins on June 13; Elbert Mullins Jr. on June 14; Crystal Mullins on June 24; Judy Breeding Mullins, Jerry Breeding, Marie Parks and Joe Adams on June 29.

The Fleming-Neon eighth-grade dance was held at the Pine Mountain Grill in Whitesburg, with Paul Breeding acting as D.J. Everyone reported having a great time. The eighth grade graduation will be on June 9.

Get well wishes go out to Robert Mullins.

The Neon Student Technical Leadership Program competed in the state competition recently, and did well for the community and their school.

The Jenkins Lady Cavalier softball team competed in the Regional Tournament last weekend. Brooke Webb, a rising senior at Jenkins High School who plays sec- ond base and pitches, and Emily Walker, also a rising senior who plays shortstop, are part of the team.

Joe Walker of McRoberts, 85 years old, claims to be their biggest fan and rarely misses a game, whether it’s at home or away. He is Emily’s grandfather and ‘Pap’ to all of the players.
