The Letcher County Relay for Life Committee has changed the appearance of “Myrtle” the cow, which has been successful in helping raise funds for the American Cancer Society. This year’s Myrtle, seen in front of the Letcher County Courthouse, is made of plywood. Last year’s was made of chicken wire and newspaper. Myrtle makes money to help find a cure for cancer when people pay money to have her moved to and from businesses and homes throughout the county. Persons interested in helping Myrtle to help fight cancer are asked to call Alberta Perry at 855-7962 or Doris Banks at 632-9680. The Relay for Life walk-a-thon is set for June 5 at River Park in Whitesburg.
