New grand jury will meet

The Letcher County Grand jury composed of new members will meet for the first time Thursday (March 20).

Letcher Commonwealth’s Attorney Edison G. Banks II said the grand jury was originally scheduled to hear a timber theft case in which Marvin and Verna Potter, of Craft’s Colly, said they lost red and white oak trees valued at $50,000.

Joe Curd, a surveyor from Morehead, told Banks on March 18 that he would not be ready to testify this week.
