New indictments name 10



The Letcher County Grand Jury has returned 10 new indictments. Four of the 10 people named in the indictments are charged with manufacturing methamphetamine.

Jarrod B. Cole, 20, 14184 Mountain View Circle, Lenoir, N.C.; Larry Wayne Bentley, 33, 1915 B & Oak Mountain Road, Big Stone Gap, Va.; and Joseph A. Rollins, 25, and Tiffany D. Craft, 21, both of 1830 Artesian Well Road, Big Stone Gap, Va., are each charged with complicity to manufacture methamphetamine, complicity to possession of a controlled substance, complicity to possession of a methamphetamine precursor, and complicity to possession or use of drug paraphernalia on January 11.

Jenkins Police Chief Adam Swindall testified in the cases.

Others indicted are:

• Jason Allen Sparks — Sexual abuse.

Sparks, 31, 80 Sunrise Subdivision, London, is accused of subjecting a 16-year-old girl to sexual contact through the use of forcible compulsion on October 10.

Kentucky State Police Detective Randy Combs testified in the case.

• Homer Thaddeus Sharp — Theft of identity, theft by deception, and being a persistent felony offender.

Sharp, 30, 2507 Hwy. 932, Eolia, is charged with obtaining property or services from AT&T on November 15, using personal identification stolen from a child.

Tena Brown testified in the case.

• Shawn Matthew Kiser — burglary, theft by unlawful taking, and being a persistent felony offender.

The grand jury says Kiser, 27, 163 Pistol City, Whitesburg, entered a car owned by Erica Back which was parked at Walmart in Whitesburg and took property belonging to Back and/or members of her household on January 26.

Whitesburg Police Officer Phillip Slone testified in the case.

• Rosetta C. Polly — promoting contraband.

Polly, 58, 85 Dry Hill, Pine Gap, is accused of introducing Lorcet into the Letcher County Jail on November 17.

Letcher County Deputy Jailer Angela S. Napier testified in the case.

• Christina Anne Gilliam — promoting contraband.

Gilliam, 27, P.O. Box 633, Jenkins, is accused of introducing Neurotin into the Letcher County Jail on January 15.

Letcher County Deputy Jailer Angela S. Napier testified in the case.

• Michael ‘Mickey’ Joe Bentley — Wanton endangerment and criminal mischief.

Bentley, 37, 1487 Lower Pompey Road, Shelbiana, is charged with repeatedly attempting to force a car driven by Brenda K. Bentley off the road as she attempted to flee from him on US 23 near Jenkins on June 29, 2008. He is also accused of damaging Brenda Bentley’s car by forcing it off the highway and causing her to hit a guard rail

Kentucky State Police Detective Ben Campbell testified in the case.

In a second indictment, Brock is charged with promoting contraband and use/possession of drug paraphernalia.

The grand jury says Brock obtained or possessed a plastic bag and metal container containing 16 ¾ Alprazolam tablets while she was confined in the Letcher County Jail on Nov. 21.
