Hello everyone, hope you have settled down after Christmas.
I had one of the best ever. I guess everyone knows by now, I got a puppy, one of the best. She is so good! My family all got together. They surprised me. I thought I didn’t need one at my age, but after one day I decided I did.
She slept all night and she loves her bed and her toys and she loves to walk in the yard with me and now she runs. She will be a small dog. She’s six months old now. She stays close to me and doesn’t bark.
We had a great Christmas with Larry and Linda and all their family.
I was pleased to get a call from Gladys Smith in North Carolina. She wrote for The Mountain Eagle ‘til she moved away and we had a long talk. She still gets The Eagle. By the way, Gladys, I don’t have your phone number, just your address. Maybe you can give me your number.
We offer our sympathy to the family of Billy Pennington, brother of Dorthy Tacket and Linda Hall. I’m not sure where he lived. He’s been gone a long time. I haven’t seen him in year, but we were all close to the Pennington family.
I enjoyed talking to my brother John Howard. I hadn’t seen him since our Howard reunion and we all had a great time. We always enjoy being together.
Bertus Tyree is doing much better. He’s home now and Betty and his family are pleased with that. He’s had a hard time. They’ve had to be on the road a lot and I’ve missed seeing Betty.
People just don’t visit much anymore, mostly phone calls.
I was pleased to see my granddaughter, Wendy Day, and her sons Larry Kevin “L.K.D.” and Rocky. They brought a toy for my puppy and she loves it. We named her Susy. We all got together and decided it would suit her.
I got a call from my sister Joann Brown yesterday. She was visiting her son Chad Brown and his family. She calls me every day and I certainly enjoy it.
I haven’t heard from many people. I guess they are digging out of Christmas and getting back to normal, whatever that is.
We had a little snow a few days ago. It was pretty and didn’t last long. That’s the kind I like. We’ve been having a lot of rain, but it’s not real cold. Today is New Year’s Day and it’s raining now so I won’t be getting out and don’t really need to. We have had it pretty good so far.
I hope Bertha (Page) Dye is doing O.K.
I hope Albert and Jerry Barker are doing well.
I got a long letter from Elzie Ray Hatton and a picture of his dog Rocky. They love that dog. He’s their baby.
I hope everyone had a great Christmas and a happy New Year. I wish I had some good news for all of you. Let me know when you have news and I’ll tell everyone about it.
Well, it’s about time for Sunday school. May God bless all of you and try to be in church somewhere if you are able.
