New TV is stolen from Boone Fork seniors center

Police are asking for information about the theft of a flatscreen television that was stolen recently from the Boone Fork Senior Citizens Center.

Letcher County Sheriff Danny Webb said the 47-inch Vizio Plasma television, which has a retail value of $1,495, was taken from the center during the early hours of June 8.

“Our seniors are the people we look up to and then to go steal from our senior citizens – I don’t even know the words to say,” said Letcher County Judge/ Executive Jim Ward.

Ward said he is going to prosecute the thief to the fullest that the law will allow.

The fiscal court recently purchased televisions and Nintendo Wii game systems for all of the senior citizens centers. The televisions, including the one that was stolen, were mounted on a wall of each center.

Ward said some of the centers already have security systems, but the county is going to install security systems in every center before the Wii game systems are taken to the senior centers.

Webb has charge of the investigation.

Anyone with information should call the sheriff’s department at 633-2293.
