The first newborn of 2020 at Whitesburg Appalachian Regional Hospital arrived right on schedule — January 1, 2020 at 1:02 p.m. — and was delivered by Dr. Katrina Slone. Cordia Liza Jane Miller weighed 7 pounds, 3.3 ounces and was 19 inches long.
Cordia’s parents are Jackie Caudill and Damean Miller of Jeremiah. She has one brother, Logan, and two sisters, Layla and Londyn, who are excited about their new baby sister.
Ms. Caudill said she has delivered all of her children at Whitesburg ARH. “It is a wonderful experience. The nurses and the staff are so kind and helpful and Dr. Slone is awesome.”
Whitesburg ARH is proud to provide the highest quality of care, in the mountains of eastern Kentucky, in its OB Department. In 2019 Whitesburg ARH OB Department delivered 449 babies.
“We have a great team of highly experienced physicians and nurses on our staff,” said Whitney Helton, RN, OB Nurse Manager. “Location, comfort and hospitality are important when selecting an environment to give birth. Our staff is honored to be a part of this very special time in the life of a family.”
As the first baby born in 2020 at Whitesburg ARH, Cordia and her parents received a large infant bathtub full of items that every baby needs.
