No smoking, dipping at UK

The “no smoking” signs will be going up this fall at the University of Kentucky, where lighting up, and even dipping, will be banned on all campus property.

The ban is to go into effect Nov. 19 and includes outdoor areas.

University officials announced the plan this week, and the Lexington Herald- Leader reports that university president Lee Todd appointed a task force to decide how to put the new policy in place. That will include getting the message out and offering treatment and assistance.

The Courier-Journal says UK’s tobacco-free policy will apply to all tobacco products, including cigarettes, chew, pipes, cigars and snuff.
