Northern Kentucky doctor pleads guilty in drug case

A northern Kentucky doctor has pleaded guilty to conspiring to illegally distribute painkillers.

Dr. Milton Brindley admitted in federal court in Covington this week that he made about $600,000 by prescribing powerful narcotics without a legitimate medical purpose.

Federal prosecutors said the 66-year-old Brindley conspired to illegally distribute more than 45 grams of oxycodone as well as more than 80,000 other pills that were controlled substances.

The Kentucky Enquirer reported that as part of his plea, Brindley will forfeit his medical office, more than $35,000 and a large collection of pornography seized at his office.

The Augusta physician also agreed to a $591,000 judgment against him.

U.S. District Court Judge Danny Reeves scheduled Brindley’s sentencing for Oct. 26.
