Lisa Bentley snapped this photo a few days ago and sent it to The Eagle to remind Letcher Countians that black widow spiders are found in Letcher County. While the female northern black widow pictured here can be very poisonous to some people, its venom affects most people only slightly. The only other poisonous spider native to Kentucky is the much more dangerous brown recluse, but it is rarely, if ever, seen in the mountains of Letcher, Harlan and Pike counties.
