Ohio storm brings down trees, power lines

Northeast Ohio

Howdy, family, friends and neighbors, it’s me again coming to you from Lorain, Ohio. It’s been kind of a nice sunny day here but yesterday we really got a storm, lots of rain, thunder, lightning and winds up to 70 plus miles an hour. Kinda scary time! Lots of trees and power lines were down and debris blown all over. Well, I’m finally getting my hearing back, not 100 percent but much better. At least there’s no more mechanical clanging.

I talked to brother Henry Warren in Murray. He seems to be well. He has some small greatgrandchildren who keep him from being too lonesome. They live about a city block from him even though they don’t live in the city. If there were more hills it would seem like Letcher County. We’re looking forward to seeing him at our picnic in August.

Red and I went to North Ridgeville to see Chester and Jettie. They are both doing well. Like us, they only have small garden this year. T’aint easy raisin’ a garden when you ain’t all that young anymore.

Sunday is church time at Little Pilgrim Home in Ruggles, Ohio. It will be their communion service. Don’t know if we’ll be going or not, guess it will depend on just how well I can hear.

Billy Wayne and Redia came by for a short visit bringing me another load of clothes to work on and I ain’t even finished the last load. I’m a’thinkin’ he don’t believe in idle hands. Keep busy and keep outa trouble.

Boy, did we ever get a most pleasant surprise this evening. We got company from Letcher County. Red’s niece, Carleta (Engle) Adams, and her husband, Creighton, drove in and brought Red’s sister, Mae Sowards, with them. These are the kind of surprises I like getting.

Billy Wayne and his grandson, Christopher, came by and Bill was letting Christopher drive his truck. He turned 16 on June 28 and his dad took him to get his learner’s permit. I believe Bill said this was his first time driving. He was doing well except he did have a bit of trouble backing into the driveway. I’m sure he’ll do fine though.

Well, this is going to be a short visit as I ain’t been gittin’ aroun’ all that much and ain’t been doin’ much talkin’ on the phone either.

Y’all have a great day and good week, stay well, stay happy and love and prayers to all.
