Oma Hatton is back and doing well

Hello everyone, hope you haven’t forgotten me.

I’ve been through a lot, but I’m doing better. I spent 20 days in rehab. I’m home now, but haven’t been getting out.

I’ve enjoyed getting cards from Sonny and Mahala Frazier, my good friend Shirley Breeding, Bro. Tony Brown and his church with all their names, and my church Bro. John Conn and everyone’s name. It meant a lot to me.

Bro. Danny Dixon’s wife came and visited me with her cute little dog two times. She sure loves that dog like I’ve always loved mine.

Dr. Tidal visited me two or three times. He was my doctor for many years.

Bro. Rodney Allen and his sister Becky and her husband Carlos, Jack Standifer and his two sons Korey and James visited me.

Bro. Tommy Lewis wanted me to invite everyone to his church in Cumberland. He knows Jimmy Jenkins and so do I.

I was heartbroken my sister Kathleen Brock died the day I came home. She had been so sick for so many years. Everyone loved her so much. She had the biggest funeral I’ve ever seen at the First Baptist Church in Whitesburg.

I’ve been doing better since I’ve been home, but I have a good way to get back. I’m sure trying. I miss going to church and just not getting out. I’ve had a lot of company and my family and I sure appreciate it.

Glendora Eldridge, I’m sorry I haven’t answered your letter, but I will get around to it. I just have not been able to get out.

I enjoyed a visit with my brother, Hubert Howard, and his wife Joy. I’m always glad to have company. My sons and their wives have been really good to visit.

I haven’t been getting the news to find out what’s going on. I’ll catch up. I haven’t even read a Mountain Eagle but one time, so I don’t know who all have been sick or has died so I better get busy and find out.

I didn’t have my phone with me in rehab because I was having trouble talking. Can you imagine me not talking? I’ll catch up eventually.

I was so sorry I didn’t get to see my cousin, Ruby Jean Howard, when she was in. She had to rush; she wasn’t driving and had to get back home in Indiana.

I’m so sorry I didn’t get your calls. I had 51 calls when I got home, Bertha Page Dye, Vickie Underwood, Ida Cheatham and so many more. I enjoyed your calling even if I didn’t get them.

I was glad to have my son Rob for three days and my son Astor two days and my other two, Billy and Larry, every day and everyone else who visited. I feel like I lost over half of summer, but it’s sure good to be home.

I couldn’t keep up with Rose Ballard and Christine Fields and the other writers. I hope they are doing well.

Our church is having a great revival and I’m having to miss. I don’t know when I’ll be able to drive and I’m going to have to adjust and take care of myself and it sure won’t be easy.

I got a call from my sister Joann Brown in Indianapolis. She’s in real estate and sells lots of houses. She’s a real good talker and she does really well and I think she loves her job.

I think the Howard family are making plans for a family reunion on Sept. 17. I’m not sure about the Hatton reunion. It’s always the last Saturday in August and they always have a good crowd and great food. They came from everywhere and I’ve always enjoyed it when I get to go.

I got a call from Elzie Ray Hatton in Tennessee. He and his wife Irene are doing O.K. They both have health problems. They are not in the best of health, but they work hard.

I’m looking forward to a visit from my son Astor and his wife this weekend.

I haven’t been anywhere except for rehab and doctor’s visits. I may start talking to myself. I see so much that I’ve had to miss. Hopefully I’ll get caught up.

I just thought I’d say hello to all the folks who said they missed me. May God bless all of you. Try to be in church somewhere if you are able.
