Hello everyone. Hope everything is going well for all of you. Pull up a chair and get a cup of coff ee and let’s visit! That’s what some of my friends say and I feel like I’m talking to you.

Today is a beautiful day. It’s been a good week and a busy week.

So many of my friends are sick, Roberta Willie in Roanoke, Va., Anna Watkins in Florida, and David Trent at Holston Valley, and also Aggie Hatton. I visited her on Thursday. She is doing a little better every day and is hoping to get to come to church on Sunday.

Anna Lou Combs is sick and also Earl and Juanita Profitt. Let’s pray that they all get better soon.

I’ve been wanting to get back up to Letcher Manor and visit. I’ve had a cold and didn’t want to spread it around.

I want to get back to the Ermine Center soon. I enjoy it so much and something always comes up. Annabel Wright was telling me my brother Bobby Ray Howard came and sang for them. I know they enjoyed that. He’s a great singer.

I’m so proud of him and all my other brothers. You would think I handpicked them all. I have a great of sisters also. I’m glad there were a lot of us. We never need to be lonely. Most of us live here and I love that.

I’m writing this on Friday. I’m expecting my son Rob to visit me today and tomorrow I’m expecting Astor and his wife Rosemary. I’ll surely enjoy that. It will make a great birthday for me. Kevin Day has already told everyone how old I am, but he did say it was a very young 80 so I’ll let him get away with it.

Thank you, Judy and Benny Dent of Michigan, for the pretty card you sent me and also Donna and Adrian Maggard for the card and the pictures. I’m glad you liked our hill. I still think of you and your boys real often. You were good neighbors and I certainly enjoyed the visit. I hope I didn’t walk you all to death.

People don’t visit like they used to. Everyone stays so busy and I guess we’ve got used to visiting by telephone. I’m glad we can do that.

Sara Ison called and said she had been back in the hospital. I hope she is feeling better.

Shirley Wells of Tennessee, thanks for the pretty birthday card. Thanks also to Goldie Payne of Owensboro, who is my son Rob’s neighbor. I liked her on sight. I think I would like to have her for a neighbor.

I got the surprise of my life Saturday night. My family had a surprise 80th birthday party for me at Parkway Restaurant and 82 people were there. It had been planned for four months and I never had a clue. I had family from Alabama, Indiana, Owensboro, Frankfort, Lexington, Ashland, Isom, and Pikeville, and all the Howards and Hattons here in Whitesburg.

No way could I name all the names, but I really appreciated all the work that went into it, Wendy and Kevin Day and Sandra Cook and Shirley Breeding for all their original ideas, and all my family for helping. I think they all had a hand in it and my four sons, I’ve told everyone I had the best sons in the whole world and this just proves it. All my children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and all my brothers and sisters and their grandchildren were there. I was glad to have Kathy Palumbo; she is one of our family.

ANNA WATKINS of Woodville, Fla., is pictured several years ago when she and her son brought their camper to Carr Creek Lake. Whitesburg correspondent Oma Hatton say, “My mom and dad, the late Bill and Cindy Howard, and Kathleen Brock and I visited with them.”

I’m so thankful for every one of them. I am one blessed woman!

I found out that David Trent is out of the hospital. I am so glad and I hope he can stay out. We all love David.

Kevin Day and Wendy, I sure enjoyed the video you made for me with the help of everyone who sent you the pictures. I know I didn’t deserve all this, but I sure enjoyed it. I got 50 birthday cards, some had four names on them and some of their children made their own. I read them all and I’m sure I’ll read them over and over.

My friend Roberta Willie is out of the hospital and I hope doing well. I’ll call her.

I called Anna Watkins and left her a message. I’ll get back to her. I hope she is doing better.

Thank you, Bill Smith, for calling and wishing me a happy birthday and inviting me to your church dinner.

May God bless all of you. Try to be in church somewhere this week.
