OMERY ‘MIKE’ SANDERS

Omery ‘Mike’ Sanders, 71, died January 16 at his home in Garland, Tex.

Born in Pike County to the late Roy and Hazel Fleming Sanders, he was graduated from Jenkins High School in 1957, and enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served in Turkey, Texas, Washington, D.C., Vietnam, and West Germany.

He retired in 1982 with the rank of senior master sergeant, and later retired from the Texas Workforce Commission in 1999.

He was a square dance caller and enjoyed this hobby through most of his adult life, and was a member and past master of the Dallas Elks Lodge #71.

He is survived by his wife Diann Sanders; two daughters, Angela Bradshaw and husband Bruce, and Pamela Elder-Schweers and husband Carl, Mesquite, Tex.; granddaughters, Catherine and Caroline of Kaufman, Tex., and Em- ily Coleman and husband Isaiah, of Lewisville, Tex; grandsons Jacob Elder and Brian Schweers; a greatgranddaughter Shelby; two brothers, Kedrick Sanders and wife Eileen of Jenkins, and Samuel Sanders and wife Mary of Danville, Ill.; and two sisters, Charlotte Ferree and husband Bill of Danville, Ill., and Nelda Kessler of Atlantic Beach, N. C.
