Opal Cook buried at UZ

Opal Faye Cook, 82, of Whitesburg, died March 16 at Hazard Appalachian Regional Hospital.

Born at Ice, she was a daughter of the late Charlie Cornett and June Banks Cornett Anderson. She was also preceded in death by two sons, Danny Cook and Timothy Cook; a daughter, Deborah Rylene Cook; a grandson, T.J. Cook; a brother, Ray Cornett; and three sisters, Barbara Cornett, Christine Mullins Lenz, and Carol Cook.

Mrs. Cook was a member of the Eastern Star Hester Chapter No. 54 in Whitesburg, and had served as chaplain.

Surviving are her husband of 65 years, Riley Cook; five sons, Mark Cook and wife Debbie, Donald Keith Cook and wife Sherry, Michael Cook and wife Ginger, Shawn Cook and wife Amy, and Robert Cook, all of Whitesburg; a daughter, Pamela Mullins and husband Ott of London; two sisters, Betty Steen of Jeffersonville, Ohio, and Towana Cornett of Florida; 18 grandchildren, and 21 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held March 19 at the Premium Baptist Church. Burial was in the Bony Banks Cemetery at UZ.
