Letcher County Central High School will host a Youth Opioid Summit and a Life Ready Fair from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 6.
In the Life Ready Fair, students will learn how to handle different situations in the world, how to change a car’s tire and oil, how to open a checking account and write a check, how to cook healthy in a dorm room or apartment, how to live a healthy life/ balance with exercise, how to avoid drug use/dependency, where to go if they need help, possible job opportunities, and how to stop smoking.
Appalachian Regional Healthcare will have guest speakers at the opiod summit, educating students and school staff about the dangers, warning signs and effects of opioid abuse. Community representatives will be present to teach students to make healthy lifestyle choices. Students will be going to both areas to receive information.
