Pearlie Mae Day buried at Cowan




Pearlie Mae Day died February 6 at Bristol Regional Medical Center in Bristol, Tenn. She was 84 years old.

Born in Letcher County, she was a daughter of the late Emmitt and Hettie Hampton Halcomb, and the widow of Elhannon Day. She was the mother of the late Elhannon Glen Day, Blaine Day, and Annetta Day, and the grandmother of the late Thad Malan. She was a sister of the late Mary Day, Ollie Collier, Lovell Halcomb, and Alex Halcomb.

She is survived by four sons, Walter Day, Norman, Ind.; Noah Day, Jasper, Ala.; Emmitt Day, Pert Creek; and Randall Day, Whitesburg; four daughters, Sybil Abney, Mt. Vernon; Brenda Caudill, Cowan; Hettie Adams, Pert Creek; and Marrietta Sipes, Columbus, Ind.; two brothers, Solmon H. Halcomb, Cowan, and Linvelle Halcomb, Bloomington, Ind.; a sister, Ethel Banks, Cowan; 14 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandchild.

Funeral services were held February 8 at Everidge Funeral Home. Burial was in the Dinah Blair Cemetery at Cowan.
