Pharmacy alarm scares burglars

The sounds of an alarm apparently scared away two burglars after they broke into a Whitesburg pharmacy during the early morning hours.

Whitesburg Police Chief Tyrone Fields said two men entered the Parkway Pharmacy around 3:45 a.m. on Feb. 24 after using a sledgehammer to break out the glass of one of the front doors around 3:35 a.m. on Feb. 24.

Fields said once the men climbed through the hole in the glass, the alarm system was activated and the men quickly left through the same entrance.

Fields said the men were wearing hooded sweatshirts and had some

(Continued on Pageg 13) thing covering their faces. Surveillance video shows the men breaking the glass.

Fields said the men left the scene in a black Chevrolet Cavalier passenger car and drove to Vicco where they tried to break into the pharmacy of the Primary Care Center at 4:25 a.m.

Anyone with information about the burglary is asked to contact the Whitesburg Police Department at 633-2737.
