HELPING SICK KIDS – Kentucky Master Logger Greg Banks of Premium, recently donated $1,000 to the Kentucky Log-A-Load for Kids fund. Kentucky loggers and wood industries have contributed more than $250,000 to support the Kentucky Children’s Hospital in Lexington. The money has funded the construction of two interactive trees in the lounge, where children who are being treated for illness or injury spend time playing and relaxing. In 2006, Kentucky Log-ALoad funded the creation and installation of three wooden murals that depict forest scenes. Last year, Kentucky Log-A-Load also completed funding an endowment for research into the treatment of heart disease in children and agreed to fund a new endowment that will provided scholarships of special needs teachers who are pursuing medical training. Log-A-Load for Kids is a national program that supports children’s hospitals. Since 1988, the program’s chapters in 26 states have contributed more than $40 million to children’s hospitals.
