MAN IN BROWN — When John Calipari decided Tuesday night to accept the head basketball coaching job at the University of Kentucky left vacant by the firing last week of Billy Gillispie, he became the 22nd leader of a storied program that dates back to 1903. UK’s seventh and most famous coach was the late Adolph Rupp, who amassed 876 wins between 1930 and 1972, now fourth on the all-time winning list of college hoops coaches. "Coach Rupp" returned to Whitesburg last week in the form of historical impersonator Edward B. Smith, a professor at Georgetown College. Smith, pictured above, performed as Rupp at a dinner held to benefit a scholarship fund overseen by the Whitesburg Rotary Club. The dinner was held at Community Trust Bank. (Photo by Becky Johnson)
