QUILT SQUARE — Creda and Clester Isaacs show off a new quilt square installed on the garage at their home at Deane as a part of the Letcher County Quilt Heritage Project. The pattern is a personalized variation of the tumbling block quilt pattern which uses three shades of a color to give the cubes a three-dimensional appearance. The square was painted on one-half inch plywood which measure four feet by four feet. The project is part of the eight-county Elk County Corridor project to honor and preserve the area’s heritage and promote tourism. Clester Isaacs is retired from Golden Oak Coal Company and Creda Isaacs worked at Parkway Pharmacy in Whitesburg prior to retirement. She remains active as president of the Letcher County Historical and Genealogical Society. For more information about the quilt heritage project, call Sharman Chapman-Crane at 633-5065.
