SAFETY AWARD -  Cumberland River Coal Co. Inc., Blue Ridge Mine is the winner of a 2007 surface mining safety award given by the Kentucky Coal Association and the Kentucky Department for Natural Resources Mine Safety and Licensing Office. The mine, located at Eolia, has two spreads of equipment and coal is mined from the A through J coal seams. The mine employs 97 people. LLC, Mine #5 is the winner of a 2007 underground mining safety award given by the Kentucky Coal Association and the Kentucky Department for Natural Resources Mine Safety and Licensing Office. The mine is located at Eolia. There are two active sections and continuous miners and shuttle cars are used to mine coal from the #4 coal seam. Fifty people are employed at the mine. Environmental Public Protection Cabinet Secretary Teresa Hill (right) presented the award for the Hazard District to Enterprise Mining Co., LLC representatives (left to right) Tim Balthis, John Collett, Mark Stamper, and Donald Pease.
