PICKING A PUMPKIN

— Sophia Hogg, Scarlet Stamper, Alli Bailey and Anna Hatton carried pumpkins they picked out of a “pumpkin patch” during a 4-H event held at the Letcher County Extension Office on Tuesday. About 400 kindergarten students from the Letcher County Public Schools and students at Mountain Montessori Preschool participated in the two-day event. In addition to learning how to make pumpkin pie in a bag and pumpkin butter, students got to see barnyard animals including a pig, rabbits, goats, ducks and chickens. (Photo by Sally Barto)
