Police are looking for an 18-year-old Jeremiah man accused of biting off a chunk of his 14-year-old sister’s nose during an assault.
William Dakota Phillips has been on the run since he was accused of assaulting his sister early Saturday morning.
Whitesburg Police Chief Tyrone Fields said he learned of the assault after he received a telephone call from the siblings’ mother around 5 a.m. Saturday.
Fields said the assault was so severe that in addition to the victim having the tip of her nose bitten off, she suffered a large bite mark on her wrist and sustained bruising and swelling on her neck.
The girl was transferred from the Whitesburg hospital to Niswonger Children’s Hospital in Johnson City, Tenn., where she underwent plastic surgery.
Fields said an altercation between Phillips and his sister occurred about 4:30 a.m. near their grandmother’s home in Isom. The girl went to a neighbor’s house and the neighbor called Letcher EMS.
Fields said police still haven’t determined the motive behind the attack.
Anyone with information about Phillips’s whereabouts is asked to call Fields or Assistant Chief Justin Hunsucker at the Whitesburg Police Department, 633-2737.
