Poll shows Chandler, Barr have tight race




LEXINGTON

A poll shows a close race for the 6th Congressional District seat in central Kentucky.

The poll conducted for the Lexington Herald-Leader and WKYT-TV shows 48 percent of likely voters support incumbent Democratic U.S. Rep. Ben Chandler while 44 percent favor Republican Andy Barr. The poll has a margin of error of plus or minus 4.5 percentage points and shows 8 percent of likely voters were undecided.

Mason-Dixon Polling & Research of Washington, D.C., conducted a telephone survey of 500 registered voters in the district from Oct. 15 to 19.

The poll also showed that 46 percent of voters said they approved of Chandler’s job performance and 42 percent said they held a favorable opinion of him.
