Polly rites held

Funeral services for Rex “Paps” Polly, 72, of Whitesburg, were held March 16 at Everidge Funeral Home. Burial was in Green Acres Cemetery at Ermine.

A son of the late Add and Edna Webb Polly, he was born in Letcher County. He died March 13 at Pikeville Medical Center.

Polly was a past president of the Whitesburg Little League and a member of the United Mine Workers of America, and was active in sports as a referee, coach, and player.

Surviving are his wife, Lucille Bates Polly; two sons, Jeff “Mick” Polly, Whitesburg, and Greg “Clete” Polly, Shelbiana; a daughter, Camie Polly Turner, Shelbyville; a brother, Dan Mitchell Polly, Ermine; a sister, Scottie Wagner, Pittsboro, Ind.; eight grandchildren, Justin, Brianna, Jake, Chelsea, Brea, Whitney, Lonnie, and Luke, and a great-grandson, Wesley.

He was a brother of the late Bobby Polly and Jacqueline Page.
