The Pine Mountain Trail Conference is hosting an old-fashioned storytelling event at 7 p.m. on Oct. 29 at the top of Pound/Jenkins Mountain.
The storytelling will be about the massacre of the Mullins family by Marshall “Doc” Benton Taylor (also known as the Red Fox of the Mountain) and the Fleming brothers. Angela DeBord of Roadside Theater will be relating the story on the 117th Anniversary of Taylor’s hanging.
Parking will be available at the junction of US 23 and Pottertown Road. A shuttle will be provided to the trailhead for a short lantern-lit walk down to the site of the massacre. The event is free, but donations are appreciated. Those attending should bring a flashlight, blanket and chair. Persons wishing more information may contact Shad J. Baker at 633-2362.
