The Wise County, Va., Sheriff ’s Department is looking for a Pound, Va., woman who disappeared more than two weeks ago.
Saundra Kay Pike, 53, was reported missing by her family on January 17, but had not been seen for at least five days prior to that.
“The last time we can put any contact with her was on the 12th, and that contact was with family members on the phone,” sheriff’s department Investigator Steve Jones said.
The family waited to file a report because they were used to not seeing her for a few days at a time.
“It wasn’t unusual for her to go a day or two without contact, but it’s never been this long,” Jones said.
Pike was a familiar fixture around Pound, usually walking. Some residents claim to have seen her with a man in a white pickup truck, possibly with a freezer in the back, as late as the day she was reported missing, but Jones said none of the tips they have received proved to be helpful.
Pike is described as 5 feet 4 inches tall, 170 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes.
Virginia Sexton, a friend of Pike, begged anyone who has seen her to notify the police.
“She’s a sweet little thing,” she said. “She really is. She’s always laughing.”
