PRIDE will reimburse Letcher County, Whitesburg, Jenkins, Fleming- Neon and Blackey up to $6,000 for leading the local PRIDE Spring Cleanup Month in April.
Letcher County is eligible for $5,000. Whitesburg, Jenkins, Fleming- Neon and Blackey are eligible for $250 each. The funding levels are based on the number of road miles in the county and cities.
The PRIDE funds will offset costs to the county and cities for removing litter and dumps and for offering free trash drop-off events. The funds also may help communities clean up debris from recent storms.
PRIDE also will give the county and cities T-shirts and cleanup supplies to distribute to Spring Cleanup volunteers.
All local governments in PRIDE’s 38-county service area are eligible for Spring Cleanup funds, thanks to a grant from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. To qualify for its available funds, each local government must attend PRIDE training and comply with funding guidelines.
To volunteer to pick up litter during PRIDE Spring Cleanup Month, call your local PRIDE coordinator. PRIDE coordinators’ names and phone numbers are available by calling PRIDE, toll free, at 888-577-4339 or by visiting www.kypride.org/servicearea.
