southwest of Myra in Pike and Letcher Counties.
The operation will disturb 792.52 acres.
The proposed operation is located approximately
0.1 miles west of intersection of Beefhide Creek
and US 23 and located 0.7 miles southwest of
Beefhide Creek.
The operation is located on the Jenkins West
U.S.G.S. 7 ½ minute quadrangle map. The surface
area to be disturbed is owned by Pike Letcher
Land LLC and Marjorie Wright.

hereby given that Cumberland River Coal LLC,
P.O. Box 189, Lackey, KY, 41643 intends to
transfer permit number 867-5355 to Blackjewel
L.L.C. 1051 Main Street, Milton, WV 25541.The
new permit number will be 867-5362. The operation disturbs 22.09 surface acres.and underlies
3,763.18 acres for a total of 3,785.27 acres. No
new acreage is affected by the transfer.
The operation is located 2 miles east of Eolia
in Letcher County. The operation is located
approximately 1 mile southeast from Meadow
Branch Road’s junction with KY 932 and 0.25
miles south of Meadow Branch. The operation is
on the Flat Gap and Whitesburg U.S.G.S. 7 1/2
minute quadrangle maps.
The application has been filed for public inspection
at the Department for Surface Mining Reclamation

The operation is located 1.8 miles south of Frank’s
Creek in Letcher County. It is approximately 3.25
miles southeast from US 119’s junction with KY
806 and located on Trace Fork. The operation is
on the Whitesburg U.S.G.S. 7 1/2 minute quadrangle map.

In accordance with KRS 350.055, notice is hereby
given that Premier Elkhorn Coal LLC, 6920 Highway 610, Jenkins, Kentucky 41537, has applied
for renewal of an existing surface, auger and underground coal mining and reclamation located 1.2
miles north of Jenkins in Letcher County. The proposed operation will disturb 590.21 surface acres
and 236.25 acres of auger of which 178.70 acres
overlie auger mining in a lower seam making the
total area within the permit boundary 647.76 acres.
The permitted operation is approximately 1.6
miles northwest from New US 23’s junction with
Joe Branch County Road and located 0.20 miles
west of Joes Branch.
The proposed operation is located on the Jenkins
East and Jenkins West U.S.G.S 7 1/2 minute
quadrangle map. The operation will use the area,
contour, mountaintop removal and auger methods
of surface mining and the underground method of
mining. The surface area to be disturbed is owned
by Pike-Letcher Land Company, Swan Fork Coal
Company, Inc., Kinship Resources, Inc., and Oscar
Fleming Heirs. The operation will underlie land
owned by Pike-Letcher Land Company and Swan
Fork Coal Company, Inc.

The Jenkins Independent School District will
hold a public forum on Monday, January 28,
2018 at 5:30 pm at the Jenkins Middle High
School Library, 269 Hwy 3086, Jenkins, Kentucky to discuss school nutrition and physical
tness in the Jenkins Independent School
District. The Public is encouraged to attend and
provide input on the improvement of nutrition
