In accordance with KRS 350.093, notice is hereby given that Sapphire Coal Company, 1073 Riverview Street, Grundy, Virginia 24614 has applied for Phase III on Increment No. 1 of Permit Number 867-5313, which was last issued on October 18, 2018. Increment No. 1 covers an area of approximately 8.61 acres and located 1.25 miles east of Premium in Letcher County.

The permit is approximately 1.90 miles east from KY 588’s junction with KY 160 and located on the North Fork of the Kentucky River. The latitude is 37° 07’ 37”. The longitude is 82° 53’ 36”.

The bond now in effect for Increment No. 1 of Permit Number 867-5313 is a Surety Bond in the amount of eleven thousand nine hundred dollars ($11,900.00). The remaining amount of eleven thousand nine hundred dollars ($11,900.00) is being requested for release.

Reclamation work performed on Increment No. 1 includes: backfilling, final grading and seeding completed in January 2017.

Written comments, objections, and requests for a public hearing or informal conference must be filed with the Director, Division of Field Services, 300 Sower Blvd., 2nd Floor, Frankfort, Kentucky 40601 by November 8, 2019.

A public hearing on the application has been scheduled for November13, 2019 at 10:00 at the Department for Natural Resource’s Hazard Regional Office located at 556 Village Lane, Hazard, Kentucky 41702. The hearing will be canceled if no request for a hearing or informal conference is received by November 8, 2019.
