Quilt contest featured

The Swappin’ Meetin’, a two-day festival held on the Cumberland campus of Southeast Kentucky Community and Technical College, will include a quilt contest. The festival will take place Oct. 3 and 4 and all quilters are invited to enter their work created during the past year.

Contestants will be limited to two quilts per category — novelty, pieced, applique, baby quilts and wall hangings. The pieces will be judged on top design, quilt design, color combinations, materials used and the use of padding, lining and binding. Best of show, first, second and third place ribbons will be awarded.

Quilts should be brought to Lynn Cox at the SKCTC Angel-Dale Library, Cumberland, and will be accepted from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 3.

The quilts will be judged after 3 p.m. on that day and are to remain for display until 4 p.m., Oct. 4.
