Quilting project brings colorful, comfortable results

The 19 women seen above are among 24 women who have been meeting once each month to work on a “quilt-as-you-go” project. The project involved sewing a large variety of colored strips to batting and backing, and then joining the squares together to make a lap quilt. Attendees mentioned the fellowship and encouragement they received at each meeting as highlights of the eight-month project. Participants included (front row, from left) Barbara Pritchard, Inis Reedy, Matilda Parks, Cathy Hicks, Rebecka Watkins, Patricia Yinger, Sharon

Short, Brandy Hatton, (back row, from left) Susan Thomas, Joyce Sturgill, Pat Anderson, Abby Wynn, Susie Gibson, Cathy Fischer, Lisa Ison, Katherine Thompson, Marcia Caudill, Vernell Mullins, Madonna Anderson and Kathy Napier. Assisting with instruction were class organizer Nanette Banks, Letcher County Family & Consumer Sciences Agent, and Lisa Ison, Letcher County Master Clothing Volunteer.
