R.C. and Frances Day mark 61st anniversary

Big Cowan

Hello everyone! How is everyone? Really been nice cool weather lately. I have been enjoying these nice cold days and the colors of fall.

Went to a yard sale in Upper Bottom on Friday. I met Joyce Niece, Maxine Banks and Dean Halcomb and had a nice little chat with them. They were all really nice.

I called R.C. Day to see how he and Frances are doing. I had not seen them for awhile. They are doing pretty good. They celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary on Aug. 31. Congratulations to them.

Sorry to hear of the death of Zane Gray Day. He died in Kansas. He was a son of the late France and Rachel Day. My sympathy goes to his family.

Bert Banks died last week. My sympathy goes out to his family. Also Gertrude Fields, the widow of Herman Fields of Kingscreek. My sympathy goes to all of the family.

Saturday, Oct. 25, at 2 p.m., the Cowan Community Center Action Group will celebrate 50 years that the center has served the community. The celebration is to honor and recognize individuals and the entire community for their foresight and dedication in establishing this organization and the Cowan Community Center.

This is your special invitation, and it is also to inform everyone of this historical milestone in the development of the organization.

The day’s events will include a short history of the organization’s development; recognition of community members and other individuals who played a part in the development of the organization; comments by special guests; a brief overview of the center’s current status; dinner (a typical autumn dinner) might be a pitch-in dinner; and an oldfashioned square dance.

Please confirm by Oct. 17 that you can attend, and the number of people, so plans can be made for the meal. Call Nell Fields, 633-2858, or Carol Ison, 633-9831.

We hope everyone can be there. It is located on Big Cowan.

Prayer list this week: Estelene Shepherd; Melinda Daniel; Mike Fields; Dean and George Roark; Irene and Eugene Day; Audrey and Charles Hammonds; Agnes Maggard; Louise Sturgill; Georgette Sims; Elmo Day; Carla, Tony and Destiny Maggard; Brack and Linda Sexton; Della Mae Maggard; and Delzie Banks.

My sister Kathy Wolfe had a cataract taken off of her left eye. She is doing well.

Archie Fields is doing fair, and I am doing okay. I’m just tired from running so much, but a gal has to do what a gal has to do. Ha, ha.

I stopped by Carol and Kendall Ison’s the other morning. They were sitting on their front porch. Always nice to have a little chat with them. They are both so sweet, even if we are cousins.

Velda Fraley (formerly Velda Dollarhide) called me the other day from Michigan. She said it was 42 degrees there. Brrrr!

Late happy anniversary to Jimmy Darrell and Pam McIntosh on May 31. Sorry I just found out. Congratulations on 37 or 38 years.

Well folks, stay in, stay warm and have a good week. Attend the church of your choice. Remember the revival this week at King’s Chapel Church with Don Enfusse starting Wednesday at 7 p.m., Saturday at 7 p.m., and Sunday at 11 a.m., and dinner afterward.

Please come and join us.
