Radio auction raises funds for shelter

Greetings to all from the Eolia Christian Community Outreach Center.

For we walk by faith, not by sight.” 2 Corinthians 5:7.

I am so pleased that Letcher County now has a homeless shelter. Over the years I’ve seen people find themselves without shelter due to various reasons, fire, turned out from their present home, left beside the road by people they were traveling with, and more. These people now have somewhere to go thanks to Saving Grace Homeless Shelter (SGHS) and the continued efforts of Director Diane Watts, the fundraising committee and the board of directors.

SGHS recently had a radio auction and I’m humbled to see how many businesses and individuals contributed to this effort. As Diane said, “Saving Grace Homeless Shelter was established March 19 of this year. The shelter has been utilized 46 times already.”

SGHS operates totally and completely on donations and volunteers and both are greatly needed in order to keep the doors open. For more information, call 606-589-5976.”
