Ralph Edward Brown, 81, died May 10 at his residence in Columbus, Ind.
Born in Whitesburg, he was the son of John and Cora McFall Brown and the widower of Barbara E. Trent Brown.
Mr. Brown was a disabled veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in Berlin during the Berlin War Crisis. He was employed at Cummins Engine Company for 22 years, retiring in 2016.
Mr. Brown was a member of Parkside Baptist Church. He enjoyed cheering for Duke basketball, hunting, and fishing.
Surviving are a daughter, Pam Toll and husband David of Shelbyville, Ind., and a son, Steven Brown of Freetown, Ind.; his grandchildren, Shelby Toll, Sawyer Toll, and wife Haidee, Madalyn Toll, Tyler, and Ashley Wilson, and Steven Alan Brown; a great-grandchild, River Toll; a brother, Raymond Brown; and sisters, Shirley Sexton, Brenda Summers, Vonda Cook, Vera Adams, Deborah Tyree, Barbara Collins, and Sheila Cornett.
He was preceded in death by five brothers, Edwon, Watson, Arthur, Johnny, and Donald, and three sisters, Naomi Brown, Loretta Seegraves, and Linda Grigsby.
A funeral service was conducted on May 15 at Myers-Reed Chapel in Columbus, Ind. Burial was in the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Madison, Ind.
