Ralph Palumbo dies in Florida

Ralph Russel Palumbo, 75, of Gladwin, Mich., died February 21 in Naples, Fla.

Born in Whitesburg, he was a son of the late John and Della Howard Palumbo. He was a brother of the late John Palumbo, Mae Palumbo Cox, and Guy Palumbo.

Palumbo retired as a master sergeant of the U.S. Air Force, and was a meteorologist with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) National Weather Service. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Knights of Columbus, and Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Betty Palumbo, children, Helen Vialpando, Maryanne Huck and husband William, Ralph Palumbo Jr. and wife Mary, and Michael Palumbo; grandchildren, Janet, Will, Eric, Adam, and Ryan; greatgrandchildren, A.J. and Annie; a sister, Tommie Adkins; and a brother, Bill Palumbo.

Funeral services were held February 27 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Gladwin, Mich. Burial was in the Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Mich.
