Ralph Stanley’s ublicist says the 83-year-old bluegrass music pioneer is recovering at his home near Coeburn, Va., after a procedure to insert a pacemaker.
Norma Morris says Stanley had the procedure last week after experiencing a lengthy bout of sluggishness and lack of energy. She told the Roanoke Times that Stanley was feeling better and is expected to be fine.
The Grammy Award-winning musician only had to cancel one show. His next scheduled performance is at the Grand Ole Opry on Jan. 21 and 22.
Stanley is scheduled to appear in Prestonsburg, Ky., on April 2, and in Bristol, Tenn., on June 19.
